The "educational exchange" work package includes joint study courses, excursions and the development of a three-part course within the framework of the summer school.
All involved project partners have extensive experience in the robotics sector. An exchange programme in the educational sector is meant to enable teachers and students to profit from each other's expertise. Furthermore, the programme aids the establishment of long-term networks and enables the chasm between education and research to be closed, due to the varied characteristics of the participating institutions (university, technical college, polytechnic, extramural research institutes). All partners in the project will be involved in the exchange programme both passively and actively.
Every year an excursion to an innovative business in the robotics sector will be undertaken. This serves to reinforce the cross-border relationships between education, science and commerce as a foundation for longer-term project collaboration. Target groups are scholars and students as well as members of the involved project partners.
The summer school will be organised in the form of three seminars during the summer holidays of 2008, 2009 and 2010, each lasting several days; the aim being to bring together young talent and interested parties of the robotics and related sectors. The seminars comprise workshops and lectures with Austrian and Slovakian involvement both as participant and as lecturer. A colourful, target group-oriented support programme will top the seminar off, making learning a mutual experience.
The following focal points are planned for the seminars and, together, generate a comprehensive curriculum of a three-phase robotic training that will be available even after the project time-period:
