For robotics to be established sustainably, interest needs to be stimulated early on, during apprenticeship. For this, adequate teaching material and teaching methods are needed. The project provides a modular, flexible robotic platform that can be applied in the various sectors of school and university teaching. The results will be published and will therefore be available to all other interested educational institutions.
Expert knowledge is available within the project, both in robotics and in the didactics. All partners of the project can contribute significantly to the design and implementation through their experience. Pupils and students will also be significantly involved in the development of their own teaching material of the future.
A cross-border task force of robotics experts and teachers will evaluate existing approaches to robotics in tuition. This includes both existing hardware and software solutions as well as practical experience from other educational and research institutions. An evaluation report will consolidate the results from this particular step of the work package and will form the foundation for the subsequent steps.
Literature Research and Evaluation Report (pdf)
A technical concept for a Robotics Education Platform will be prepared, based on the evaluation report from step 2.1. It will take existing solutions into consideration and adapt these in close collaboration with teachers. The instructional concept will describe the possible applications of the Robotic Education Platform in various seminars. The goal is the continuous use of the developed platform in secondary and tertiary education.
The concept will be published in the framework of the "Robotics in Education" conference and presented to an international trade audience.
Completing a prototype of the Robotic Education Platform before the summer school 2010 where the focus will be on "Robotic Applications" and exposing it to an extensive practical test during the school. Parallel to the prototype, the corresponding technical documentation as well as a user handbook for the workshop participants will be prepared.
