Historical outline

  • 1758 - Foundation and establishment as the Imperial and Royal Commercial Drawing Academy - the oldest vocational school in Central Europe, in Vienna Bräunerstrasse I, with six pupils.
  • 1920/22 - moved from the second location in Vienna VI, Marchettigasse to the former militia uniform depot in Margareten (built 1889) to its current site. School converted to the "Higher School of the Textile Industry".
  • 1957 - Founding of the "Department for office technology" (in the Expositur Vienna XIII, Feldmühlgasse 11, "The Klimtvilla"), which later evolved into Austria's current EDPO/IT (Electronic Data Processing and Organisation/IT) education.
  • 1970/71 - First year of students studying 'Abitur', a form of post-secondary education, at the pilot stage of the actual EDPO / IT training with twelve participants.
  • 1982 - Opening of the first College for Information Technology and Organisation in day and evening classes, as well as the five-year polytechnic of data processing and organisation, thus the starting point of today's secondary and tertiary IT training in Austria.

  • Department of art and design with full-time studies (165 students)
  • Department of Operations Management with a focus after 2 years on: Textile Product Engineering, Technical Process Management; (290 students)
  • EDP and Organisation – Day school with full-time studies (starting in the 3rd semester) with a focus after 3 years on: commercial data processing, network technology, digital media technology (530 students)
  • IT evening classes with full-time study, focused from the 5th semester on: mobile computing, content and learning management systems, software engineering (220 students)
  • eGovernment and eHealth, evening classes
  • Full-time study course for data processing with in-plant training (185 students)

Partnered with the IT department of the University of Central Lancashire and with the Department of Design at the University of Derby; access to the BSc degree in England, or in Vienna.
